Vatican City, 06 July 2013: Pope Francis received on Saturday morning in the Vatican,
President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago Anthony Thomas Aquinas Carmona, who
later met Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone along with Archbishop
Dominique Mamberti, Vatican Secretary for Relations with States.
A Vatican
communique on Saturday said that the cordial talks focused on the contribution that
the Catholic Church offers to the population, especially in the areas of education,
health and assistance to the most needy and vulnerable, including the young people
in the fight against crime and violence.
Finally, they also touched upon some
issues of great importance, such as the integral formation of the person and the protection
