of Christian community, where praise and action of grace are a stimulus for a renewed
evangelizing commitment and ecclesial communion. This is what Pope Francis proposed
to participants in Costa Rica’s 4th national Eucharistic Congress that concluded on
Sunday in Cartago. The April 14-21 congress has as its theme, “The Eucharist: the
Bread of Life for Our People.” On behalf of the Pope, Vatican Secretary of State,
Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone sent a message that was read by the papal envoy to the congress,
Archbishop Piero Marini, the president of the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for International
Eucharistic Congresses. In the message the Pope wished that all baptized be able
to draw much spiritual energies from the Most Holy Sacrament to build a wold that
is ever just and reconciled, according to the message of Jesus Christ.
