19 April, 2013 - A Christian youth was shot dead by a Muslim early April following
an argument over difference of religion, the Vatican’s fides news agency reported.
Allah Ditta, the 20-year old victim was a domestic worker in a small village in the
Manga Mandi area, 30 km from Lahore, the capital of Punjab province. 150 Christian
families live in a single neighbourhood in the village. Ditta worked to support his
family of five sisters, one of them disabled, a younger brother and his aged parents.
The Christian organization "The Voice Society," told Fides on April 4 that a group
of young Muslims from the same village had entered the Christian area insulting and
harassing Christian girls. Noting Ditta, they also insulted his disabled sister. An
argument ensued and degenerated into a fight and witnesses saw one of the bullies,
named Sadam, pull out a gun and shoot Allah Ditta in the head. Christian lawyers
have lodged a complaint by the Ditta family for justice.
