Pope Francis sends greetings to Archbishop of Canterbury
(Vatican Radio) Pope Francis has sent his personal greetings to the Archbishop of
Canterbury, Justin Welby, on the occasion of Archbishop Welby’s enthronement. In his
Message, Francis thanks Welby for his greetings upon the Pope’s own recent election,
offering best wishes and expressing the hope that that two might meet in person soon.
Pope Francis’s Message goes on to say, “The pastoral ministry is a call to walk in
fidelity to the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.” It assures the Archbishop of the
Pope’s prayers as he takes up his new responsibilities, and asks the Archbishop to

The new Archbishop
of Canterbury, Justin Welby was enthroned in Canterbury Cathedral On Thursday March
21st, feast day of St. Benedict. The new leader of the worldwide Anglican
Communion welcomed Prince Charles and political leaders, alongside representatives
of different Christian Churches and delegations from many other religions, urging
everyone present to face the challenges of the modern world with faith, courage and
hope.
