Questions of faith: What is Benedict XVI really like?
(Vatican Radio) As the world bids farewell to Pope Benedict XVI we ask our very own
official from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Monsignor John Kennedy,
what the Holy Father is really like.
Taking a brief pause from our series
on Lent, Msgr. Kennedy shares insights into the daily life and habits of Benedict
XVI, when he was Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine
of the Faith. From his daily celebration of Mass in the Teutonic College, to his
immense capacity to remember the names and little personal details of everyone he
met.
And, as Msgr. Kennedy reveals, his love for the faith, the Church and
the people he worked with didn’t stop when he was elected Pope on April, 19th
2005. Imagine the surprise of the priests in the CDF when the very next day he turned
up at the office ready for work as usual, dressed head to toe in white: “I’ve never
seen a room of officials drop to their knees so quickly to receive a blessing”, he
reminisces. Listen:
