Supervisory Committee of the Vatican Bank Renewed

February 16, 2013: The Vatican on Saturday renewed for five years the Commission of Cardinals for the supervision of its bank, which is officially known as the Institute for Works of Religion (IOR). A Communiqué of the Press Office of the Holy See stated that the new Supervisory Committee of the IOR is composed of Cardinals Tarcisio Bertone, Secretary of State (President), Jean-Louis Tauran, President of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue; Odilo P. Scherer, Archbishop of São Paulo - Brazil; Telesphore P. Toppo, Archbishop of Ranchi – India, and Domenico Calcagno, President of APSA.

The renewal of the Supervisory Committee of IOR comes shortly after the Vatican has appointed on Friday German lawyer Ernst von Freyberg to be its new president.
