Tanzania: Episcopal appointment

On Tuesday, Pope Benedict XVI appointed Bishop Desiderius M. Rwoma as Bishop of the diocese of Bukoba in Tanzania. He succeeds Bishop Nestorius Timanywa, whose resignation the Holy Father accepted in accordance with canon 401 § 1.

Bishop Rwoma was transferred from the Diocese of Singida, Tanzania, which he will continue to serve as Apostolic Administrator sede vacante et ad nutum Sanctae Sedis.
