January 12, 2013: We are, together with the managers and staff of the Judicial Offices
of the State of Vatican City, around the table of the Eucharist, to usher in the Year
of the judiciary in the name of the Lord, said Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, Vatican’s
Secretary of State. He was speaking on Saturday during the Mass at the inauguration
of the Judicial year of the Vatican City.
He said: We want to invoke the divine
wisdom on the delicate and important task of the administration of justice. Conveying
the greetings of the Pope to the President of the Court, the judges, the Promoter
of Justice and the staff of the Registry, Cardinal Bertone said that Pope Benedict
XVI follows with careful solicitude their appreciated work.
Reflecting on the
day’s gospel, the Cardinal said that the example and witness of John the Baptist are
a reminder to the believers to put aside the desire to appear, thus reducing the "self"
so that in each of us and in others see the love of Jesus: He is the way, the truth
and the life.
He prayed that everyone can fulfill with humility and in truth
his service in the administration of justice in favor of our unique community of the
State of Vatican City. He invited them to be able to grow in the knowledge that the
harmony, justice and peace are not fully accessible without adherence to God and acceptance
of His grace.
