Tireless pilgrims celebrate Jubilee in St. Peter’s
December 01, 2012: ‘Tireless pilgrims, are gathered here today in St. Peter's Basilica
to celebrate your Jubilee days in the Year of Faith. You have come from all over Italy,
from different countries of Europe and even the United States of America to show your
faith and your love for the Church and the Holy Father’ said Cardinal Antonio Maria
Veglio, President of the Pontifical Council for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and
Itinerant People. He was addressing the artists and professional from the world of
the travelling show, at St. Peter’s Basilica on Friday evening.
Today's celebration
of the Eucharist is our profession of faith, following the teaching of the Church
and the Holy Father, which, in this Year of Faith invites all believers to authentic
and renewed conversion to Christ, the only Savior of the world. The encounter with
Christ is therefore an event that transforms the whole of life, is an invitation to
join him and to involve themselves fully in his plan of salvation, added the Archbishop.
Dear
artists and showmen, he said, your professions put you in contact with people of different
nations, cultures and religions. Your commitment is graceful in leisure and in the
feast, also offering compassionate service.
The Catechism of the Catholic
Church teaches that "faith is a personal act the free human response to the initiative
of God who reveals himself". Pope Benedict XVI, deepening this thought explains that
faith "is the result of a relationship, a dialogue in which there is a listen, and
get an answer is to communicate with Jesus that makes me out of my" I " enclosed in
myself to open up to the love of God the Father.
If each becomes a messenger
of the Gospel in the world where your business takes you, then the glory of God resound
in all corners of the earth and the people shall rejoice in his works, added Cardinal
Veglio.
