November 29, 2012: A Catholic media and communication center in Mumbai, the commercial
capital of India, is celebrating 20 years of multimedia production from Thursday with
a host of programs including a national meeting of publishers.
The Salesian-run
Tej-Prasarini (Light-spreader) based in Mumbai collaborates with the Catholic Bishops
Conference of India's office of Social Communications in organizing the national meeting
of Catholic publishers.
A 4-day book and media fair of Tej Prasarini till Dec.
2 would also be organized to mark the event. The fair is expected to bring together
some 20 leading publishers and media houses, both in print and digital, said Father
Joaquim Fernandes, event coordinator and Tej- Prasarani director.
The celebrations
began with concelebrated Eucharist in the Don Bosco crypt at Matunga Marian shrine.
It was followed by the inauguration of the fair by journalist and author Naresh Fernandes.
Besides
the national meeting of publishers, the day is also scheduled to have competition
for students in art & craft, phonetic classes, talent parade and magic shows.
The
event would also see day-long exhibitions along with discussions toward joint-ventures
for collaborative productions and language editions.

Association of Catholic Communication (Signis India) and Indian Catholic Press Association,
Tej-Prasarini (Light-Spreader) is a Don Bosco institute, which began in 1992 as a
modest audio-cassette initiative in response to the catechetical needs of a rural
Christian population in Pune. In 1993, it was re-located at the Salesian Provincial
House at Matunga in Mumbai.
