Church Appointments: Catholic Education, Boston Auxiliary

Two major appointments were announced at the Vatican on Friday.

Pope Benedict has nominated Monsignor Angelo Vincenzo Zani as Secretary for the Congregation for Catholic Education, at the same time elevating him to the titular see of Volturno, with the dignity of Archbishop. Msgr Zani has been serving as Under-secretary of the same Congregation.

Also on Friday, the Holy Father appointed Monsignor Robert P. Deeley, a priest of the Archdiocese of Boston, USA, as auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese. Bishop-elect Deeley has been assigned the titular see of Kearney.
