Seminar explore contemporary challenges in catechesis
November 02, 2012 - A National Seminar on contemporary challenges for catechesis
in India was held at Kristu Jyoti College, Bangalore. The event marked the Silver
Jubilee of Visvadeep Institute of Faith Education and Youth Ministry and the celebration
of the Year of Faith. Archbishop Bernard Moras of Bangalore highlighted the many positive
aspects of Faith Education and Youth Ministry manifested in the ever increasing growth
of catechists, movements, groups, renewal in faith and prayer, involvement of the
laity. The three-day seminar was attended by former students of Visvadeep working
in the dioceses and religious institutions, students of Kristu Jyoti College and Visvadeep
and others from Bangalore. Seveal papers were presented on the catechetical and youth
ministry by experts from various disciplines. A group discussion gave a panoramic
view of the challenges and possibilities in the field of faith education and youth
ministry. The seminar was organized by a team led by Dr. Joy Pulikan, Registrar and
the Head of the Department of Catechetics and Youth Ministry, Kristu Jyoti College.
The participants felt that the seminar was able to motivate them for a renewed commitment
to work with enthusiasm to spread the Good News of Jesus.
