“Coming here for the first time was a very moving and nice experience with the more
experienced cardinals and bishops from all over the world.” Bishop Sanctus Lino Wanok
of Nebbia is in Rome as one of the representatives of the Ugandan Bishops’ Conference.
He spoke about his experience at the Synod of Bishops with Father Moses Hamungole,
the head of Vatican Radio's English in Africa Section. “Entering into the prayer and
reflection together with the pope and all the other attendants, we found an atmosphere
of really discerning what the Spirit is speaking to the whole Church in the world.
It was a very moving experience.”
Bishop Wanok spoke about the atmosphere within
the Synod all. “I believe we are really guided by the Spirit, as you could see in
the Synod Hall, how the Fathers were trying to make interventions, and making propositions
in the small circles of discussions – everybody respecting every voice that
comes, and tries to take note of it in order to discern the voice of the Spirit.”
That
discernment of the Spirit, he said, will influence the final report of the Synod:
“And at the end of it, how this has been put together, in order to come out with the
later document, we believe that the document will be very rich with the real
voice of the Spirit for the Church and for the whole people of the world.”
