Anglican Archbishop to address Synod on Evangelisation

(Vatican Radio) Among the special guests addressing the Synod of Bishops on the New Evangelisation on Wednesday is the Archbishop of Canterbury and head of the worldwide Anglican Communion, Dr Rowan Williams.
The archbishop, who’ll be stepping down from his leadership position at the end of this year, has been a regular visitor to Rome and the Vatican over the past decade – earlier this year he joined Pope Benedict for Vespers at the Church of St Gregory on the Caelian Hill and last October he attended the world day of prayer for peace in Assisi.
As well as speaking to the Synod of Bishops on Wednesday afternoon, Dr Williams is expected to have a private farewell meeting with the Pope and to attend the Mass in St Peter’s Square on Thursday for the 50th anniversary of the Second Vatican Council.
Vatican Radio’s Philippa Hitchen caught up with the archbishop at the Church of St Gregory on Wednesday morning to look back over his decade in office and about the importance of the Anglican-Catholic dialogue….
