Loreto: spotlight sacred sites

(Vatican Radio) Professor of Fine Arts, Breda Ennis shares with us her emotions while visiting the Marian shrine of Loreto where Pope Benedict XVI travelled on the 4th of October.

And where he entrusted to Our Lady the forthcoming 'Year of Faith' which begins in a week's time, as well as the Special Assembly of the Synod of Bishops for the new evangelisation which starts on Sunday 7th of October.

A visit in the footsteps of Pope John XXIII who went there half a century ago, on the eve of the opening session of the Second Vatican Council. It was the 4th October 1962 and he too asked Our Lady " for heavenly help” in view of this momentous event in the history of the Catholic Church..

Professor Ennis takes us into the Basilica built over the Holy House at Loreto. A sacred space where over the centuries countless pilgrims have knelt.

A programme produced by Veronica Scarisbrick.
