(Vatican Radio) The so-called conflict between faith and science, or more precisely
between evolutionary biology and a belief in God the creator, came under the spotlight
on Wednesday at the Rimini Meeting for Friendship amongst Peoples. The weeklong annual
encounter, taking place in the northern Italian resort city, brings together international
experts on religion, politics, economics, science and the arts to debate cutting edge
issues and promote dialogue between different cultures. Amongst the speakers addressing
the crucial questions of faith and science was Professor William Carroll from the
theology faculty of Oxford University. He spoke to Vatican Radio’s Philippa Hitchen
about the way in which evolutionary biology is often hijacked by those seeking to
promote a secular and exclusive understanding of the origins of our human nature….
