(Vatican Radio) Cardinal Paul Shan Kuo-Hsi SJ, the Bishop emeritus of Kaohsiung in
Taiwan has died at the age of 89.He was ordained a priest on the 18th March 1955 at
Baguio in the Philippines and on the 15 of November 1979 the Cardinal was made Bishop
of Hwalien.On the 4th of March 1991 he was nominated Bishop of Kaohsiung and was made
a Cardinal by Pope John Paul II in 1998.
With his death the College of Cardinals
is now comprised of 207 members, of which 118 are eligible to vote.
