(Vatican Radio) The British government Minister for African affairs on Monday condemned
as “completely and total unacceptable” the grenade attacks on two Christian churches
which left at least 17 people dead in Northern Kenya on Sunday. The Parliamentary
Under-Secretary for Africa, Henry Bellingham, is in Rome for a two day conference
on Somalia which is seeking to promote stability in that country and a decrease in
the violence which has spiraled across the border with neighbouring Kenya. The meeting
of the International Contact Group on Somalia comes ahead of a planned ‘transition’
in Mogadishu in August, expected to include presidential elections, the adoption of
a constitution and the establishment of a more representative parliament. Minister
Bellingham spoke with Vatican Radio’s Philippa Hitchen about his hopes for peace in
