Archbishop of Guwahati: a passion for evangelisation

Forty-three newly created Metropolitan Archbishops received the Pallium – the special sign of their office – on Friday, during a Mass to mark the feast of Sts. Peter and Paul. Archbihsop John Moolachira of Guwahati Archdiocese in north-east India close to the border with China and Bhutan and the Himalayas was among them. Archbishop Moolachira spoke with Vatican Radio about his mission in the region. “It is a highly responsive area for evangelisation,” explained Archbishop Moolachira. He went on to explain that the Church in the region is expanding. “We are looking for more missionaries,” he said, to fill the need created by their pastoral and social network of forty-one parishes, schools, boarding houses, dispensaries, hospitals and other services. “When there are more people,” he said, “more work will be done.” Listen to Archbishop Moolachira's interview with Vatican Radio's Tracey McClure: RealAudioMP3
