NATO leaders meeting in Chicago have endorsed plans to withdraw international forces
from Afghanistan by the end of 2014. They've also backed a plan to hand more responsibility
to Afghan security forces by the middle of next year. After a brief meeting on
the sidelines of the summit between US President Barack Obama and Pakistan's President,
Asif Ali Zardari, US officials said both sides are "working diligently" on a deal
to reopen NATO supply routes. Pakistan closed them after a US air strike last year
killed more than 20 Pakistani soldiers. President Obama told reporters that he's
