Pope condoles the death of Father Massimo Cenci

May 15, 2012: Pope Benedict XVI condoled the sudden death of Fr. Massimo Cenci, undersecretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples. In a telegram sent to Cardinal Filoni, prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, the Pontiff recalled the contribution of Father Massimo and assured his personal prayers.

The funeral of Father Massimo took place on Monday at 11.00 am in the parish "Regina Pacis" of Rome. It was presided over by Cardinal Filoni.

In his homily at the funeral, Cardinal Filoni described Father Massimo Cenci as a man of extraordinary faith, and a generous missionary. His faith and sense of the church led him to evaluate everything in harmony with the faith of the Church, the Pope, with superiors and colleagues, the Cardinal added.
