Human life concerns are at the heart of the Church’s mission in countries all around
the world and they’ve been an important focus of discussions here in the Vatican among
church leaders from the United States who’ve been coming to Rome over these past six
months for their Ad Limina visits. Among those visiting the different councils
and congregations, as well as meeting with Pope Benedict at the end of April, was
Bishop Blase Cupich of Spokane diocese in the Eastern part of Washington State. Philippa
Hitchen sat down with him to talk about the challenges of promoting a more respectful
