Pontifical Council initiates ‘Communication in the Middle East’
April 17, 2012: Following the Synod of Bishops for the Middle East held in October
2010 in the Vatican and the forthcoming Synod on the New Evangelization, a Special
Seminar on "Communication" is being held in Lebanon, 17-20 April 2012. The seminar
is at the initiative of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications and in collaboration
with the Council of Catholic Patriarchs 'East, and is reserved to the bishops of the
Middle East and to the industry, revealed a Press release on Tuesday.
The
seminar will focus on four main themes namely, Synod and News - Digital Culture -
Spirituality and Pastoral Ministry, and Communication. The seminar will be introduced
on Tuesday by Archbishop Claudio Maria Celli, President of the Pontifical Council
for Social Communications. The first day of the 4-day seminar will deal with "Communication
initiatives in various Middle Eastern countries, followed by an "analysis of the cultural
elements present in the Middle East peace" and finally on "Communication in the context
of the Synod of Bishops of the Middle East.” The second day will focus on "Digital
Culture" including an intervention on "Spirituality and elements for a theology of
communication in the network." On the third day there will be the intervention of
Archbishop Claudio Maria Celli on "New Models of Social Communication and Evangelization".
The last day will address the issue of "Communication Training". The Seminar will
be attended by about seventy people, including bishops, priests and laymen, is to
reflect and dialogue with industry experts to assess the situation together, communication"
in the Churches in the Middle East and plan a future more suited to the current situation.
