The United States said on Friday it won't let the recent progress in its nuclear diplomacy
with North Korea affect its close relations with South Korea. Despite warming U.S.-North
Korean ties, tensions between North and South Korea are increasing.
U.S. Secretary
of State Hillary Rodham Clinton met with her South Korean counterpart on Friday in
Washington, and offered reassurances that their relationship was still strong.
``I
want to be very clear: Any effort by anyone to drive a wedge between the United States
and the Republic of Korea will fail,'' she said.
US Senator John Kerry met
with North Korean officials on Friday at non-official forum on security in Northeast
Asia, and said the North said they will live by last week’s decision to freeze uranium
enrichment.
