US Ordinariate: a response to desire for unity

Former members of the Anglican communion in the United States received good news this week, with the announcement on New Year’s day of the creation of a special Ordinariate in keeping with Pope Benedict XVI’s 2009 Apostolic Constitution, Anglicanorum coetibus. The Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter will serve former Anglican groups and clergy in the United States who wish to become Catholic.
