Advent Pink

When Benedict XVI wears pink vestments chances are it's 'Gaudete' Sunday.

As Monsignor Peter Fleetwood explains in fact : " 'Gaudete Sunday is one of the two Sundays in the year when you may see your priest in the pink as a sign of joy ."

Because he says, while Advent may be a purple season : " ... it doesn't seem penitential , it's more a thoughtful time ...we're waiting for a baby boy to be born and that makes it a season of joy. The third Sunday has traditionally been the focal point of the season. In the days when the Church prayed in Latin throughout the world mass that day began with the word , gaudete,
rejoice ..."
