Egyptians vote in runoff elections

Egyptians are voting Monday in run-off polls that are part of parliamentary elections that began last week. Islamic parties emerged strongly in the initial voting, and are looking to extend their lead. Early turnout was low in the nine governorates holding run-offs, where a total of 52 seats are being contested. Voting in the remaining two-thirds of electoral districts is scheduled to take place later this month and in January.
