One of the most moving events on Pope Benedict’s busy schedule in Benin on Saturday
was his meeting with children in Benin's economic capital, Cotonou. The Pope told
the children that the day of his First Holy communion was one of the most beautiful
days in his life and he also gave details about his own prayer life. Pope Benedict
was speaking to around 800 children gathered at St. Rita’s parish in Contonou. His
talk with the youngsters followed a visit to a nearby residential home for abandoned,
sick and malnourished children that is run by sisters of the Missionaries of Charity
order.
