Pope hopes G-20 meeting will help promote authentic human development
(Nov. 02, 2011) Pope Benedict XVI on Wednesday launched an urgent appeal to the
Heads of the Group of 20 industrialized and developing Nations to promote an
authentically and integral human development. The Pope’s appeal came on the eve
of the two-day G-20 meeting in Cannes, France, where world leaders will gather Nov.
3 & 4 to examine the main problems connected to the economic global crises facing
the world. The Pope’s appeal, made at the end of his weekly Wednesday general audience
in St. Peter’s Square, hoped that the G-20 meeting would help overcome the difficulties
at the global level that obstruct the authentic and integral development of people.
