Pope’s message to “ADVENIAT” on its 50th anniversary
(15,11.2011) Pope Benedict XVI has encouraged a German Bishops’ Charity foundation,
geared to helping the church in Latin America and the Caribbean, in a message sent
to Bishop. Franz-Josef Overbeck of Essen, Germany, where Saturday they were celebrating
the 50th anniversary, of the foundation known by its latin name “Adveniat”
with its commitment to the poor, the disadvantaged and minorities in Latin America.
In his message the Pope recalled the founding of Adveniat in 1961 during the Pontificate
of Pope John XXIII. He analysed the meaning of the word “Adveniat” immediately taken
from the prayer “Our Father” > meaning Your Kingdom come. The
spread of God’s Kingdom was at the heart of Adveniat initiatives. Pope Benedict
warmly repeated the words of gratitude spoken to Adveniat by Pope John XXIII in January
1961. Transparent and clear: Adveniat publishes every year its income and expenditure
and information on the work focus of Adveniat and its concrete projects.
