Looking ahead: UN International Peace Day
September 21st marks the UN-sponsored International Day of Peace. One of the initiatives being launched this year is a 3-year project in cooperation with the Catholic peace advocacy organization Pax Christi International called “MasterPeace: create peace together”. MasterPeace brings together people around the world from the arts, business and civil society who believe that world peace is possible if enough people start to work for it. Chris Altieri spoke to the IKV Pax Christi Netherlands’ Director, Freek (PRON. Frake) Landmeter, who is involved with the organization of the initiative. "We support 'MasterPeace' as a founding partner," said Landmeter, "because we see [in it] opportunities to bring young people, especially, together, in different ways." MasterPeace officially launches on the 2011 UN International Day of Peace and ends on the same date in 2014 with a peace concert in Cairo, Egypt. Litsten
