Pope: condolences for deadly Argentina train wreck
Pope Benedict XVI today sent his condolences for the tragic accident between a bus
and two trains on Tuesday in Argentina, which left 11 people dead and 200 others wounded.
Written in Spanish and signed by the Cardinal Secretary of State, Tarcisio Bertone,
the telegram conveys the Pope’s condolences was addressed to Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio,
archbishop of Buenos Aires and President of the Episcopal Conference of Argentina.
The text of the Telegram says the Holy Father was deeply saddened upon learning of
the train accident, expresses his affection and spiritual closeness to the victims,
and their families, and promises prayers for the repose of the deceased.
