( Sept. 01, 2011) Pope Benedict XVI on Wednesday evening attended a concert of
sacred music at his summer residence in Castelgandolfo, organized in his honour by
Cardinal Domenico Bartolucci. Among the musical pieces presented at the concert
was the Cardinal’s new composition, “Benedictus,” especially written for the occasion.
Pope Benedict expressed his appreciation for the beautiful sacred music that in a
particular way, he said - was born of faith and capable of communicating the faith.
The Pope especially thanked Cardinal Bartolucci for the musical composition dedicated
to him as a prayer and thanksgiving to the Lord for his papal ministry. The Pope
said the beautiful music made “us turn our hearts to Mary with a prayer most dear
to Christian tradition. But it also made us look back at the beginning of our journey
of faith, the liturgy of Baptism when we became Christians, and was an invitation
to drink more from the only water that quenches our thirst – the living God , and
strive daily to reject evil and renew our faith.
