PIME missionary’s book on Blessed Pope John Paul II presented in Indonesia

(August 17, 2011) Hundreds of Catholics in the Indonesian capital Jakarta on Tuesday, attended the presentation of a book on the missionary spirit of Blessed Pope John Paul II. Written by PIME missionary Fr. Joseph Buono, the book recounts his experience of personal encounters with the Polish pontiff. Titled “With Mary on the roads of the world” the book has been translated in the local language of Indonesia by Yohana Halimah, an official in the Commission for the mission in the Indonesian Bishops' Conference. In the book Fr Buono illustrates the figure of Blessed John Paul II, based on his personal experience of contact with the pontiff, whom he met many times when he worked at the Congregation of Propaganda Fide, the Vatican agency specializing in missionary work. Fr.Buono, professor emeritus of missiology told the vast gathering that the first thing that late Pope John Paul II did on arriving at his destination on all of his trips, was to make his way to a chapel for Eucharistic adoration.
