Pakistani Christians seek probe into Bhatti murder
The All Pakistan Minorities Alliance is calling for a judicial commission should be
established to probe the assassination of federal minister Shahbaz Bhatti, who founded
their organization. Bhatti was the first Federal Minister for Minorities, holding
the post from 2008 until his assassination on 2 March 2011 in Islamabad.
Although
the Pakistani Taliban is thought to have carried out the attack, no one has been arrested
in connection to Bhatti’s murder.
“It was a great loss for the Christian community
because he was the voice of the voiceless for the Christians,” says Tahir Naveed Chaudhary,
a member of the All Pakistan Minority Alliance and a member of the legislative Assembly
of Punjab.
