General synod of English Anglicans


(July 09, 2011) The General Synod of the English Anglicans opened Friday at the York University in the U.K. In the course of the Synod, the leading clergy will examine the progress of the dialogue with other Christian denominations. In particular they will analyse the second phase of the common pact between the English Anglicans and the Methodists begun in 2003. On Saturday the Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, addressed the synod, which has as its theme “Share the Gospel with the world of today. An important question will be regarding the religious schools run by the Anglican community, but which are financed by the state. We now await the results of this denominational summit which has only just begun..
