Pope Benedict XVI went to the Papal Summer Residence at Castel Gandolfo on Thursday
evening to begin his vacation. Upon arrival, he spoke to the staff:
“Thank
you. Dear friends, and good evening. I have arrived to start my vacation and here
I find everything: mountains, the lake, the sea, a beautifully restored church [applause]
and good people. I am so happy to be here. We hope that the Lord will give us a good
holiday.
From my heart, I impart my blessing on all of you. Almighty God bless
you - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Good evening. Thank you.” There will be no general
audiences during the month of July, and the Holy Father will recite the Angelus on
Sundays from Castel Gandolfo. General Audiences will resume in August.
