In New Zealand, the city of Christchurch has mostly restored power after a series
of aftershocks yesterday, the strongest of which measured 6.0 on the Richter Scale.
The
tremors were some of the most violent in over 3 months. Several buildings collapsed,
and one nursing home resident was killed. Dozens of people were injured, although
most of these were minor.
The people of Christchurch have suffered thousands
of aftershocks since the earthquake on February 22nd, which killed 181
people.
