A conference exploring the theme of religious freedom will take place on Friday at
the Pontifical Irish College here in Rome.Key note speakers at the event entitled
“Religious Freedom East and West” will include the President of the Pontifical Council
for Inter-Religious Dialogue, Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran and the President of Ireland,
Mary McAleese.
“This conference is organised to mark the 4th anniversary
of the death of Father Ragheed Ganni” explains the Rector of the Irish College, Monsignor
Liam Bergin.
He told Lydia O’Kane that Father Ragheed returned to Mosul in
Iraq despite death threats and attacks to continue his ministry
He was murdered
together with three sub-deacons as he emerged from celebrating Mass on June 3rd
