On Saturday 7th May, Pope Benedict XVI began a weekend visit to North
Eastern Italy which took him both to Aquileia, once one of the largest cities in the
Roman Empire, and to Venice the lagoon city which has inspired so many great travellers
and writers thoughout the centuries .
Chris Altieri is reporting from there
on this weekend visit. Prior to leaving he shared with Veronica Scarisbrick, an
outline of some of the higlights of this Apostolic visit.
