Archbishop Saldanha of Lahore, Pakistan retires

(April, 07, 2011) Pope Benedict XVI on Thursday accepted the resignation of Archbishop Lawrence John Saldanha of Lahore in Pakistan. The 74-year-old archbishop has retired for reasons of age. Born in Mangalore in southern India’s Karnataka State, the prelate was ordained priest in Lahore, Pakistan 16 January, 1960. He was appointed the Archbishop of Lahore 24 April, 2001, and later that year on September11th was consecrated Bishop
