(April 01, 2011) In the prayer intention for the month of April, Pope Benedict is
urging our prayers that missionaries may bring Christ to those who do not yet know
Him, by proclaiming the Gospel and witnessing to Him in their lives. This prayer
intention emphasizes bringing Christ to those who do not yet know of him or do not
know him as he is. The Pope is making this invitation particularly this month when
Christians commemorate the greatest mysteries of their faith – the passion, death
and resurrection of Jesus. As we renew our baptismal promises at Easter vigil Mass,
we realize that each one of us is part of Christ’s Body on earth. Because we are
made in the image of God who is Love, the true meaning of life lies in loving; and
loving means giving, as Jesus did at the Last Supper and on the Cross. This message
of God’s love from each man must be made compelling especially to young people today.
And the most convincing way to do this has always been by example, as Christ taught
and did. Examples speak louder than words, hence there can be no greater way to convince
another than by living what we preach.
