(19.03.2011) The Catholic community of Continental China celebrated on Saturday
the feast of St Joseph, patron of the China Mission, highlighting his generosity,
service and unconditional surrender to the plan of God. Such a commemoration accompanies
Chinese Catholics right through the year. It was in 1678 on August 16th
that Pope Innocent XIth proclaimed St Joseph “Patron of the Mission in China” While
observing the Lenten celebrations along with the entire church, Chinese Catholics
celebrate during the month of March their patronal feast in honour of St Joseph.
Today is also the patronal feast of our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVIth , Joseph
Ratzinger.
