Message of Swiss Bishops for the « Dies Iudaicus »
(12-03-2011) The Swiss Bishops issued a message Saturday, marking the day dedicated
to the Hebrew people, to be held on Sunday 20th March. The theme of the
day will be “The gifts and the call are irrevocable" . It is going to be the second
year in succession that the Bishops celebrate this day known by the Latin name "Dies
iudaicus" . the Bishops in their message evoke the Hebrew roots of the Christian
faith and the need of making Christians aware of their special relations with Hebrew
people. Christian faith was founded on the ancient covenant between God and the chosen
people. The Christian credo, say the bishops is rooted in the faith of the Hebrew
people. In this context the Bishops were concerned with the new wave of anti-semitism
that was once again raising its head in Europe. So the Bishops exhort Christians
to show solidarity with the Jewish people and combat anti-Semitism and promote peace
and conciliation
