The concerns of young Catholics across South-Eastern Europe is the subject for discussion
at a meeting which opened on Thursday in Nicosia, Cyprus, organised by the CCEE, the
Council of European Bishops Conferences. With less than six months to go until World
Youth Day in Madrid, bishops from across the region are meeting together to discuss
ways of responding to the needs of young people in their churches, which are mostly
minority communities amongst large Orthodox or Muslim populations. The meeting
is being hosted by the Maronite Catholic community in Cyprus - Philippa Hitchen is
