(26 Feb 2011) The catholic school of divine Providence run by Canossian sisters was
attacked Tuesday night by vandals but left none injured, though it created panic among
the sisters. The Bishop Peter Machado of Belgaum expressed deep concern at the event
as it was the second such attack in the area in the course of one month. The earlier
victim was the school and convent of St Joseph at Camp. The police were investigating,
but meanwhile a silent protest march was being planned for Monday. These reinforced
the protest against the B.K. Somasekhara commission report that denied responsibility
of extremists in similar attacks earlier.
