Defending Life

The General Assembly of the Pontifical Academy for Life is underway here at the Vatican.
Among the themes being discussed at the meeting is Post Abortion trauma and healing.
The meeting will look at different aspects of the Academy’s activities over the past year and will also focus on future challenges.

“Our ministry assists first of all but not exclusively the clergy to speak out compassionately, clearly about abortion, about alternatives to abortion, about healing after abortion and to help mobilise the people in their parishes“ , says Fr Frank Pavone, who is attending the Assembly, and is National Director of Priests for Life, an organisation which works to end the practice of abortion and euthanasia.

Dr Theresa Burke is Founder and Executive Director of the "Rachel's Vineyard Ministry which offers post-abortion spiritual and psychological support.

She says, “There is this huge breakthrough when they (women) give themselves permission to love and embrace that lost child”.
