Abortionist charged with murder in Philadelphia

In the United States, a Philadelphia abortionist was charged on Wednesday with 8 murders, including that of 7 children who had been born alive. A grand jury report described his abortion clinic as a filthy, foul-smelling "house of horrors", who even used non-medical staff. The grand jury also noted that for years, regulators from both the state of Pennsylvania and city of Philadelphia ignored complaints against the facility.

“The abortion industry in the United States is largely unregulated,” says Joseph Meaney, Director of International Coordination for Human Life International. “In some states one is not even required to be a medical doctor to perform an abortion.”

He told Vatican Radio abortion practitioners are often not very good doctors.

“There is really a conspiracy of silence in the media, generally speaking, about the crimes they commit,” he said. “It’s very common to hear the story of [of a doctor who kills a patient], but they don’t tell you … that the doctor was actually an abortionist.”
