Pope Benedict XVI Appoints Nuncio to Singapore, and Apostolic Delegate to Malaysia, Brunei and Vietnam

(January 13, 2011) Pope Benedict XVI on Thursday appointed Monsignor Leopoldo Girelli, as the Apostolic Nuncio to Singapore, Apostolic Delegate to Malaysia and Brunei, and non-resident papal representative to Vietnam. Archbishop Girelli has been the current Apostolic Nuncio in Indonesia. Born in Italy in 1953, he was ordained priest in 1978 and was ordained Bishop in 2006 with the title of Archbishop of Capri, Italy. In April 2006 he was Appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Indonesia and in October 2006 as the Apostolic Nuncio to Timor-Leste.
