SVDs in India launch devotional music album

(December 22, 2010) The Divine Word Society (SVD) has released an album of devotional songs, aiming to lend a divine touch to people who are busy in their day-to-day lives. Eeshavayam is a compilation of songs from the film Christaayan being produced by Satprakashan Sanchar Kendra, the communication wing of the SVD. Bishop Chacko Thottumarickal, Chairperson of Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences (FABC) Office of Social Communications released the audio/video album in Indore December 17. The prelate said that the album is an effort to soothe the minds of the listeners as against the present craze for noisy music. “God is experienced in the silence of the hearts of every human being. We aim to have a divine touch to the human souls leading to an inner awakening,” he added. Fathe Jomon James, director of Satprakashan Sanchar Kendra, said that 10 popular playback singers have lent their voice to the tracks. He added that the film is expected to be released in April 2011. Father Geo George, music director of the movie, said that much importance is given to the music in the film. The lyrics of the songs have been written after much research, reflection and learning about all the cultures of the country, he added. The album contains 11 songs starting with a lullaby of Mother Mary for her Child Jesus.
